Self-penned tune from guitarist Billy Hines who was nurtured for this 45 by Rene Hall who was in the middle of a long stint as arranger and guitarist with Sam Cooke. Later re-issued on Hines’ own label, ‘Broken Down Ugly Thing’ for all its underlying insults is an upbeat Dr John-ish piece of swampy boogie with a strident piano holding things together before Billy cuts loose for a supremely laidback solo.
