Is it me, or is this tune led in by the sound of someone swatting a fly? It adds perfectly to the weirdness that is Wendy Powers’ ‘Auctioneer Lover’ which I picked up for the title alone. Surreal in its construction, it’s got an infectious earworm that’s almost disturbing. Head and shoulders over its flipside, ‘Auctioneer Lover’ was penned by Wendy herself under the name Jovan Dell. That said she had a host of AKA’s including Maria Dell, Maria Del Vecchio and Maria Jovan. The name of the auctioneer, however, remains unknown.
