Two pieces of juvenile joy; a throwaway run through classic nursery rhymes in a faltering rock ‘n’ roll style from The Dimensions – who were a Brooklyn doo wop quartet – the flipside of their version of ‘Over The Rainbow’ from 1960. It was the follow up to their take on ‘Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart’ which gives an idea of where their heads were at. By contrast the maudlin tones of Rosemary Clooney’s ‘What Is A Baby?’ makes up the flipside here; Clooney hams it up perfectly (she was a well-known actor who also hit the heights with her single ‘Mambo Italiano’, but she faced multiple tragedies, including a nervous breakdown after her close friend Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination during his presidential campaign).
